[Character Name] Sollux Captor
[Canon] Homestuck
[Point Taken from Canon] After being knocked unconcious by Aradia
[Age] 6 solar sweeps (13 in earth years)
[Gender] male
[Sexual Orientation] Presumably pansexual, as most trolls are.
[Eye Color] One red and one blue, with no pupils
[Hair Color] black
[Height] Unknown; presumably that of an average 13-year old
[Other] Well, he's a troll. That means he has grey skin, fangs, and horns that resemble candy corn. Sollux has four horns, two sets of two each.
[Clothing] Short-sleeved black t-shirt with a yellow Gemini symbol on the front; baggy grey jeans; one black shoe, one white shoe; shades that resemble 3D glasses (i.e., one side red and one side blue). Have a link!
[Background]
SOLLUX CAPTOR was created in a lab in THE VEIL, a meteor belt inside a strange simulation game he would later modify with the help of one of his friends, when one of his other friends, who also created himself at the same time, stupidly pressed some buttons and messed around with PARADOX CLONES and time travel.
...Let's skip that part for now.
On the planet of ALTERNIA lives a race known as TROLLS. Only the young actually live on the planet; most of the mature trolls go off-world to join the race's military efforts to try and take over other planets. When it is time, the adults give some of their genetic material to the FILIAL PAILS, which are then given to the MOTHER GRUB (a giant worm-like creature whose entire purpose seems to be helping with troll reproduction.) She mixes all the genetic material inside of her, then lays thousands of troll eggs all at once. When the larval trolls hatch, they wriggle their way to the stalactites around them and spin their cocoons. After they have emerged from their cocoons, the young trolls have to face a series of dangerous challenges. The survivors are then picked by a guardian, part of a diverse, indigenous species known as the LUSUS NATURAE, who cares for the young troll until they reach adulthood. Together they emerge to the surface of Alternia, where the young troll designs his or her HIVE (although they don't build it themselves; for some unknown reason, trolls feel they need to inspire a great architectural ability in their young).
Of course, Sollux and the other eleven trolls who end up playing the game together have an entirely different birth story. Instead of being laid as eggs by the Mother Grub, they were in fact created in a lab (as larvae), then sent back to Alternia due to weird timeline shit, where they proceeded to go through with the rest of the lifecycle. This will make more sense later, trust me.
Sollux lived in a COMMUNAL HIVE STEM (basically, the troll version of an apartment building) with his Lusus, a BICYCLOPS (a creature with two heads, each with only one eye (link)), which he kept chained up on the roof due to it being an idiot. He spent most of his time doing COMPUTER PROGRAMMING, and became an AMAZING HACKER. Sollux also has some very strong PSYCHIC ABILITIES, and can both use telekinesis and see the future (although mostly, it seems, things that have to do with doom or destruction.) At some point he became friends/enemies (the word for 'friend' in the Alternian language happens to be the same as the word for 'enemy', which pretty well describes how most troll 'friendships' seem to be) with the other eleven trolls, although the only two really worth mentioning in relation to Sollux are KARKAT VANTAS (his best friend) and ARADIA MEGIDO (his girlfriend).
It seems that Sollux lived a relatively normal troll life, up until a certain LIVE ACTION ROLEPLAYING INCIDENT that occurred between some of his friends. One of the friends (VRISKA SERKET) used her mind control abilities to force another friend to jump off a cliff, permanently crippling his legs. Two of their other friends (TEREZI PYROPE and ARADIA) quickly found out about the accident, and decided to get back at her; Aradia used her psychic abilities to summon the ghosts of all of Vriska's past victims to haunt her. Vriska was pissed off by this, and to get her own revenge (for the revenge... yeah, it gets weird) decided to mind control one of the others. She couldn't mind control Aradia herself, due to her psychic abilities, so she instead used her abilities on Sollux (his own psychic abilities made Vriska's mind control somewhat ineffective, as she could only control him about half of the time, but that was enough to get the job accomplished.) Vriska had him fly to Aradia's hive, then forced him to eat some of his MIND HONEY that he brought with him. The mind honey is very useful for Sollux's lusus, as it helps to make him smarter so he isn't as much of an idiot all the time, but when Sollux himself eats it, it makes him shoot eye lasers. Really, really big eye lasers, that are capable of obliterating just about anything. Needless to say, after eating the mind honey he completely destroyed Aradia's hive, killing both her and her lusus.
So of course, this merited even more revenge. Terezi somehow found out that Vriska had been communicating with a pretty creepy guy who seemed to know everything about everything, and he was the one convincing her to do lots of these things. Sollux used his computer skills to trace the guy so that they could talk to him; Terezi let him know that Vriska had a rather important artifact of his, and he got really pissed and blew it up in her face. Vriska ended up losing her arm, as well as one of her eyes, which was actually seven eyes (don't ask). Then there was likely even more revenge, as Terezi was blinded during this same incident, but we haven't been shown that part yet. But everyone was happy because they thought Aradia was actually still alive. She really wasn't, as she had become a ghost (probably due to her own connection to the dead), but no one knew that (except probably Vriska and one of their other friends, but we'll ignore that since it isn't really relevant). What matters is that Sollux remained unaware that he killed his girlfriend, which is probably a good thing since he can get pretty self-loathing at times.
Some time later, Aradia obtained some coding for a game in one of the ruins she desecrated. As both Aradia and Sollux had psychic abilities, specifically the ability to see the future (albeit in different ways, as Aradia's comes from communing with the spirits of the dead and Sollux's is simply foresight), both knew that the future of their world depended on playing this game. Sollux adapted the code into a usable form, and then proceeded to round up enough players- two teams (since everything Sollux does has to have two) of six trolls each. Of course, there was one large difference in what Aradia and Sollux knew; where Sollux had foreseen that they would save their world by playing SGRUB, Aradia knew that their world was doomed. She purposefully omitted this information when talking to Sollux, though, as she knew he would back out if he knew. It wasn't until just before he was going to start up the game as the leader of the blue team that she told him, causing him to temporarily quit. When he told Karkat, whom he had recruited as leader of the red team, Karkat got angry (as he usually did in their conversations), and claimed that Sollux wasn't actually any good at programming anything. He then decided that, since Sollux was so horrible at it, there would be no problem running one of the programs he had received from the hacker (who had sent it to him to show off, as he has practically no self-esteem to speak of.) Of course, Sollux really was an amazing programmer, and the program had the exact effect it was intended to; it immediately caused Karkat's computer to explode (killing his lusus), and then placed a CURSE on him, everyone he knew, and everyone he would ever come to know. This curse also meant that every one of their lusii would die.
Sollux later contacted Aradia to apologize for getting angry over her omissions, then reclaimed his place on the blue team (although not as the leader), but Aradia told him he still couldn't enter even though he was ready. Sollux got angry with her, since he really didn't know what she was going on about, when she told him to go to his window. Although she claimed she was just outside, and he would be able to see her, she was nowhere to be seen. In fact, the truth was that she was there, but due to being a ghost, she was unable to be seen. But while he was looking out the window, trying to see her, Aradia quickly used her own abilities to put him to sleep. The dreams he was to have would, apparently, be critical to their success in the game...
Since that's the timeframe I'm actually taking Sollux from I would normally stop there, but that's actually before they were even created so I have to explain a little bit more about that stuff. Basically, the game they would be playing is an alternate reality, that exists in all times at once. Everyone who plays the game is destined, at some point during their journey, to create themselves (or be created by one of their other players.) In the trolls' case, the player to create them all would be Karkat. At some point after entering the game, he found himself in a laboratory in the Veil (a meteor belt between some of the planets in said game.) In there was a really fancy ECTOBIOLOGY MACHINE that makes everything way more complicated than it has to be. The machine makes PARADOX CLONES (basically, a clone of something that will then go back in time to become whatever it was a clone of) of things that it has locked onto. In this case, it was the trolls' guardians that were created in the lab as paradox clones, where they were then reduced into some sort of goo and mixed together and then cloned again to create paradox clones of the trolls themselves. Then, after a certain event in the game, all of the paradox clones were sent back on meteors to Alternia as babies, to then grow up and become themselves so that they could then later be created again in the game. Which still doesn't make sense, but that's as good as it's really going to get.
[Personality]
In every aspect of Sollux's life, his penchant for BIFURCATION is very clear. It not only has a clear effect on his abilities, interests, and history, but on his personality as well. He is said to be BIPOLAR, although the extreme MOODSWINGS make it seem almost as if he has two entirely separate personalities at times. He generally seems to exist somewhere in between the two extreme ends, but it's not at all unusual for him to have fits of overblown anger that lead directly into his more self-loathing side, or vice versa.
When not affected by one of his moodswings, Sollux actually seems to be pretty laid back, especially for a troll. He laughs off even the vilest jabs at himself, and tends to just be a really cool and collected guy. Of course, his moodswings are completely random- although he might be calm and laughing at Karkat's childishness one second, the next he's flipping off the handle and arguing back just as vehemently --
-- only to then apologize for flying off the handle in the first place, with some sort of witty metaphor for how he flew off the handle. Which leads us to the other half of his personality, the self-loathing half. Sollux seems rather convinced at times that he's pathetic, and it's really no secret that he hates himself. Even though he's the best around at computers, he still thinks he isn't any good at all- he actually writes computer programs (mostly viruses) and sends them to Karkat just to get some sort of validation of his abilities. He can be incredibly pessimistic, although some of this is due to his constantly hearing and seeing visions of death and impending doom. When relating one of his visions to a friend, he's even explicitly asked if, maybe, he's interpreting the visions wrong due to how he feels about himself. While he denies this, claiming that what he saw is the truth, it still goes to show just how bad his self hatred can get at times.
Sollux is one of the only trolls shown to actually have a real friendship with somebody; due to the nature of troll emotions and relationships (which I'm not getting into, as troll romance is confusing as hell, even to trolls), it seems that it's rather uncommon to actually have a good friend. In fact, on Alternia the word for "friend" is the same as the word for "enemy", something which can definitely be seen in the constant bickering between Sollux and his best friend Karkat (whom he calls KK). Although Sollux claims that he only talks to many of the other trolls due to his self-loathing attitude, it's obvious that this isn't the case; Aradia even tells him that she knows he enjoys talking to her, and Karkat reaffirms their friendship everytime he and Sollux get into an argument.
[Specialties/Abilities]
Sollux's main abilities are his computer skills and his psychic abilities. His computer skills are the best around, and he knows ALL THE CODES. All of them. He has a very large, powerful computer set-up, which is actually run using BEEHIVE MAINFRAMES. What this means is that he basically has a whole bunch of beehives in his room and the bees somehow magically run his computer and whatnot. And can communicate in binary. Also, they make mind honey for Sollux to feed to his Lusus so it isn't a complete idiot all of the time. But that's getting away from the main point, which is that Sollux is apeshit bananas at computers. All of his friends actually seem to have some amount of respect for his programming and hacking abilities, and he's capable of writing incredibly dangerous computer viruses (such as the MOBIUS DOUBLE REACHAROUND VIRUS which cursed all of the trolls and killed their lusii.) He mostly seems to write these to show off, although he is definitely capable of a lot of destruction if he wanted to be.
Sollux is a high level psionic, and has very strong powers of telekinesis. He can fly, presumably using telekinesis, and he fights using his powers to throw THROWING STARS around. Because of this, he does not use a strife specibus (basically a gaming construct that functions as a weapon ability & inventory slot) like everyone else. Sollux also is hounded by the psychic screams of the IMMINENTLY DECEASED, and his VISION TWOFOLD gives him visions of the future. His most recent visions show that they must play the game of Sgrub to save their world, although it will also lead to him being blinded and every one of them dying. His psychic abilities also lead to him being somewhat resistant to mind control, only being affected about half of the time. His psychic abilities also give him the ability to put people to sleep just by snapping.
As with all trolls, Sollux is proficient at architectural design. Trolls sure are weird!
[Affection] Go ahead and try whatever. Keep in mind, of course, that he's the equivalent of 13. And troll romance is weird, so be prepared for absolutely no relationships with him making any sense to your character.
[Fighting] Fighting/injuring/whatever is a-ok. Sollux's psionic abilities make him not only good at fighting (using throwing stars), but also allow him to fly, or lift other objects or people with his telekinesis. He may not be the most powerful guy around, but he's still pretty tough in a fight.
[Other Permissions] I have no problems with fourth-wall breaking, or with characters attempting mind reading/mind control. Mind reading and mind control should be cleared ahead of time so we can figure out what exactly will happen; Sollux is somewhat resistent due to having psychic abilities himself.
[Other Facts]

This will only come up in text (either text messages or in writing), but it is still useful to note, especially because he will probably tend towards text most of the time over the Dreamberries.
-Also, troll blood color defines their caste system; they are ranked in a reverse spectrum, with red-bloods as the lowest caste and violet-bloods as the highest. As all trolls (with the exception of Karkat) use a text color that matches their blood color, this places Sollux (with his yellow blood) on the lower end of the caste system. He's not the lowest guy around, but he's still part of the lower classes.
